Makes we repair
Emergency boiler repair in Wimbledon: what happens when you ring
We answer, day and night. We'll ask what the boiler is doing, where in Wimbledon you are and whether you have a hot-water cylinder.
Which parts of Wimbledon do your gas engineers cover?
All of it, from Wimbledon Park to Dundonald, by day or night. By postcode district, Wimbledon's two wards are:
- SW19: Wimbledon Town, Dundonald and Wimbledon Park
The two wards' edges reach into SW18 and SW20. The rest of SW19 and SW20 is covered as well, Wimbledon Village and Raynes Park among them, along with all of Greater London. Not sure where your street falls? Ring us with the postcode and we'll say.
What kind of boiler does a Wimbledon home have?
Mostly a boiler in a terraced house or a flat. In Wimbledon Town, Dundonald and Wimbledon Park, many of the flats are in houses that were split up, and there are purpose-built blocks too. The boiler may be a combi, or a system or regular boiler with a hot-water cylinder: our team asks which when you call.
More homes in Wimbledon Park are heated by electricity alone than across London as a whole, so yours may have no gas boiler. If you aren't sure what heats your home, ring us and we'll tell you on the call whether we can help.
The difference between a combi, a system and a regular boiler.
Can a new boiler flue go on the front of a Wimbledon house?
In a conservation area, a new flue on the front wall, or on a side wall facing a road, needs planning permission. Merton's conservation areas include Wimbledon North, Wimbledon West, Wimbledon Village, Wimbledon Hill Road, Wimbledon Chase, Wimbledon Broadway and Wimbledon Windmill. A flat lacks a house's permitted development rights, so most changes to its outside need permission wherever it is.
This comes into play when a boiler is replaced and its flue moves. When to replace a boiler instead of repairing it. Ring us for a new boiler quote: the survey visit is free.
What Merton's guidance adds
Merton Council's household retrofit guidance says never to block a boiler flue, air bricks or trickle vents while draught-proofing. A home needs that air to stay healthy. The planning rule above is the national one, in the General Permitted Development Order 2015.
When should I book a boiler service in Wimbledon?
Every year. Merton's water comes from Thames Water, which calls all the water in its region hard. The yearly service is the engineer's chance to look inside the boiler for scale. We'll give you the rate on the call.

Landlords and tenants in Wimbledon: who fixes the boiler?
The landlord: the law makes a landlord keep the boiler working, and have the gas checked by a Gas Safe engineer every year. Renting? Ring us anyway, and we'll tell you what has probably failed.
Merton Council licenses shared houses of five or more people from more than one household across the borough, Wimbledon included. Its licence asks the landlord to show the council a gas safety certificate from the last 12 months every year. It must also be shown within 7 days of a written request.
Merton's selective licence and its licence for smaller shared homes cover a set of wards elsewhere in the borough. Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon Town and Dundonald aren't among them. Colliers Wood, also SW19, is: there, a home shared by three or four people from more than one household needs a licence too.
Checked on 6 October 2026 against Merton Council's licensing pages. We have no connection with the council.
