Makes we repair

Emergency boiler repair in Fulham: what happens when you ring

We answer, day and night. We'll ask what the boiler is doing, where in Fulham you are and whether you have a hot-water cylinder.

How a call to us goes, step by step.

Which parts of Fulham do your gas engineers cover?

Every street in Fulham, at any hour of the day or night. Fulham's two wards, by postcode district:

  • SW6: Fulham Town, and part of Fulham Reach
  • W6: most of Fulham Reach
  • W14: the rest of Fulham Reach

We cover the rest of SW6 as well, Parsons Green, Walham Green, Sands End and Hurlingham included. If you're not sure whether your street counts as Fulham, ring us with the postcode and we'll tell you.

What kind of boiler does a Fulham home have?

Most homes in Fulham are flats, some in purpose-built blocks and many in converted houses, and nearly all the rest are terraced houses. A flat or a smaller house may have a combi, while a larger terrace may have a system or regular boiler with a hot-water cylinder. We'll ask which when you ring.

Some blocks in Fulham Reach are warmed from a shared heat network instead of a boiler in each flat, and some flats use electric heating. Not sure which you've got? Ring us, and we'll say whether it's a job for our engineers.

Do I need planning permission for a boiler flue on a Fulham flat?

For a new flue, yes. Hammersmith & Fulham Council says installing a flue on a flat or maisonette needs planning permission. You'll meet this rule when a boiler is replaced and its flue has to go somewhere new.

Repair or replace: how to tell when a repair isn't worth it. Ring us for a new boiler quote. The survey visit is free.

What the council says about houses

A new flue on a house may not need planning permission if it rises less than a metre above the roof's highest part. In a conservation area, or under an Article 4 Direction, a flue on a house's front or side is likely to need it. The council's list of Article 4 Directions includes Central Fulham, Fulham Park Gardens, Parsons Green, Hurlingham, Walham Grove and Bishops Park.

When should I book a boiler service in Fulham?

Once a year. Fulham's water is hard, and Thames Water's latest reports put both its Fulham and Hurlingham supply zones in the hard band. The scale it leaves is among the things a service looks for. We'll give you the rate on the call.

Landlords and tenants in Fulham: who fixes the boiler?

The landlord: the law makes a landlord keep the boiler working, and have the gas checked by a Gas Safe engineer every year. Renting? Ring us anyway, and we'll tell you what has probably failed.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council's licences ask more of a landlord:

  • the gas pipework, appliances and flues inspected by a Gas Safe engineer every 12 months
  • a copy of a certificate from the last 12 months sent to the council within 14 days, if it asks in writing

A selective licence is needed to let any house or flat on 24 named streets in the borough. They include Fulham Road, New King's Road, North End Road, Dawes Road and Wandsworth Bridge Road. A home shared by three or four people from two or more households needs an additional HMO licence anywhere in the borough. Both schemes run until 4 June 2027.

Checked on 6 October 2026 against Hammersmith & Fulham Council's licensing pages. We have no connection with the council.
